Dr. Didier Schrijvers studied medicine at the University of Gent (Belgium) where he graduated in 2004. After his graduation, he started as a psychiatric trainee at the Psychiatric Hospital Stuivenberg in Antwerp (october 2004-september 2005) . From october 2005 until july 2008 he worked as a PhD student at the Collaborative Antwerp Psychiatric Research Institute ( CAPRI ; http://www.ua.ac.be/CAPRI ; University of Antwerp ). His main project of research encompasses “Action monitoring in Depression” in which impairments in the action monitoring system (by use of neurophysiological assessments; registration of the Error Related Negativity) in unipolar depression are investigated and relationships with cognitive and psychomotor disturbances as well as personality traits are explored. He also participate in an ongoing functional neuroimaging project in the fMRI Unit Stuivenberg, exploring the predictive capacity of prefrontal brain activity for long-term functional outcome in first-episode psychosis. His PhD degree was obtained in the summer of 2009 and he will be presenting his work on our VVP meeting
Since august 2008 he is working as a psychiatric trainee at the Psychiatric Centre Sint-Norbertushuis in Duffel (Belgium).
